Hey yall! I was curious if I was doing a flaw question with the question stem stating, "takes for granted that" and I treat it as a necessary assumption stem will the NA always be a defender? Thank you!

Hey lagatanoir,

Necessary assumptions can act as defenders or supporters, so I wouldn't say they will always be defenders.

Am I'm understanding your question correctly - a question says "the author's argument is flawed in that it takes for granted that..." and you're looking for an answer choice to complete that thought? If so, yes you are looking for a necessary assumption. If the phrase is used in another way you might be looking for something else, but phrased like this that's an assumption.

Hope that helps!
