Number 1 refers to "hard numbers". What does that mean?

Hi saranash1!

"Hard numbers" means any number with a fixed value. As opposed to %s or ratios.

The example stimulus discusses the "market share" of Company X, which is always going to be a % out of the whole 100% pie. So without more information, you cannot say anything specific about the actual number of goods sold. But don't focus on whether or not an actual number is listed, notice in the answers to avoid that they say "a smaller number" or "a greater number" of cars were sold.

Does that help?
