I interpreted this stimulus as a nested conditional, with the "unless"being the last sentence with ammonia.

It seems like this stimulus is actually not Nested, because the Ammonia necessary condition (one of the OR's after simplifying the Nested) needs the contrapositive of a link in its own chain (NotDecomposed) to prove NotGood Compost.

This would absolutely destroy me if I made this mistake on the test: so much time wasted, and then so much more time needed connecting these dots. How do I avoid incorrectly basing a question around a possible Nested conditional ?

Are there MBT that use Nesteds, or are Nesteds normally used in PR questions, Strengthen, Weaken and Justify?

Please ignore all requests above. I understand how this is not a Nested.

Surely the arbitrary condition of Best compost is arbitrary precisely because the contrapositive would beg the sufficient to be Not40%-60% OR NotBrown colored. So even after we do the contraposotive of "Good" (and thus of "Best"), there are no problems when AC E says Brown colored because of "NotBrown colored" now being in the sufficient, not "Brown colored", so there is no contradictory trigger that AC E implicates.
