Process/Mapping Games

Hello,

I just took the September 1995 LSAT. I was wondering how frequently process/mapping logic games tend to appear on the LSAT? (similar to Q4 on the LG section of this test) They seem to have been phased out over time.

Hey Matki,

Yes, they are very rare. As I note in the LGB and in our courses, they appeared several times in the 1990s, but then disappeared. Any "Mapping" games since then have been Grouping games in disguise.

So why still cover them? There are two reasons. First, just the process of learning how to solve an unusual game is useful, and that process alone is worth your time. Second, and more importantly, there's a chance they could come back. LSAC has shown a propensity to at times pull game types out of use for years before then tossing them back on the LSAT, thereby causing great turmoil (both Circular games and Sequencing games have seen this happen to varying degrees).

Our approach has been to cover Mapping very briefly, and make note of the higher likelihood of a "Grouping disguised as Mapping" game. We feel that covers all bases while at the same time optimizing the use of your time
