Now this is a tough one to swallow lol. I understand Levi's view are within the context of social classification and or functional characterization. What am I missing here?

President,

As you said, Lévi-Strauss’s view is that names are primarily instruments of social classification. With that in mind:

Answer choice (A): Nothing here is about social classification at all.

Answer choice (B): This is nothing about social classification but instead about a description of the child's personality or appearance.

Answer choice (C): Honoring friends or famous people is arguably social...but nothing about this answer includes social classification.

Answer choice (D): This doesn't even seem to indicate what names are, but instead says something about what they aren't. No good.

Answer choice (E): Occupations have always correlated with social classification - the very idea of "class" often (maybe even usually) involves one's occupation. So occupation and social classification go easily with each other, which is why this is the correct answer.
