Hi,

For this question the correct answer is B but I chose C. Is C incorrect because in terms of satisfying human wants, no human wants a defective product, thus a steady state economist would agree with the policy? But if I follow this reasoning isn't less expensive fuel generally lower quality and this won't satisfy human wants either? Or am I making an unwarranted assumption that less expensive = lower quality = not satisfying human wants?

Thank you!

Hi LSAT99.9

The steady-state economists believe that conservation, increasing efficient use of resources is an alternative to growth that still satisfies human wants. Answer choice (C) would be increasing efficiency because fewer defective products would mean less waste and usable products. Answer choice (B) only addresses the cost of fuel to producers and in no way addresses the efficiency issue, so steady-state economists would not endorse it.
