Hi PS!

I got this question correct, however I was able to narrow down the answer choices to (A) and (B). Can someone please explain why (B) is correct and (A) is wrong?

Thank you very much for your valuable support.

Regards,

Andrés

Sure thing, Andrés! Start by taking note of what we know about those academic researchers - they "fear that corporate patent holders will charge prohibitively high fees." So what are they likely to believe, if that is something they are afraid of? That high fees are a bad thing, and maybe corporate patent holders shouldn't charge too much. That's not support for allowing the competitive forces of the market to set prices and guide research, but just the opposite! That's hoping for some price controls so they can afford to keep doing their basic research. That's why answer B is correct, and answer A is an opposite answer that should be crossed out.
