Hi Powerscore Team,

I completed this question correctly by eliminating the other answers as having elements that would not help the augment's validity, but I still have trouble understanding why answer choice D is the correct answer or how to pre phrase the answer to this question.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi LSAT Student,

The argument here is that because there's a demand for used cars with former East Germans, the former West Germans (who presumably already have cars) are going to take advantage of the market and sell their cars. Great, makes total sense, but then the conclusion makes a big leap by saying that because of this the new car market is also going to improve. Why would that happen? The people who sell their cars to take advantage of the market then turn around and buy a new car. If we know that a lot of former West Germans are selling their cars because they can get good money for them, and we also know that most former West Germans buy new cars once they've sold their old one, the conclusion that the new car market will benefit is pretty solid.

Hope that helps!
Beth
