Main Point questions ask us to summarize the main idea an author is trying to convey in their passage. Here, not only is Answer choice (C) not discussed or implied within the passage, but if true, it would also undermine the author's conclusion, so it cannot be the correct answer.

If we look big picture at what the author is trying to say, they are informing us about 2 different studies on the effects of nitrogen in forests. the North American study says nitrogen is good, while the European study puts a limit on how much is a good thing - too much nitrogen can kill.
