Hi, I would like this question to be explained thoroughly, as I can't seem to understand why I got this one wrong. My selected answer was A.

Hi Oscar,

So this is a flaw question, asking us to identify the flaw found in the stimulus. Here, we are asked to do so in specific terms, rather than general ones. We should always be able to identify and articulate the flaw in the stimulus before moving on to the answer choices.

The flaw here is of the part-to-whole (composition) variety, where the studies show that coffee (in normal amounts) isn't bad for heart health. The conclusion, however, assumes that this means that coffee isn't bad for overall health, of which heart health is only one part. So that's what we're looking for in the answer choices.

(A)--Doesn't describe a flaw. Loser.

(B)--Describes the flaw as it used specifically in this stimulus. Contender/Winner.

(C)--Irrelevant, doesn't describe a flaw. Loser.

(D)--Again irrelevant, doesn't describe a flaw. Loser.

(E)--Makes coffee an effect of stress, which also has the effect of harming the heart. Doesn't describe a flaw, irrelevant. Loser.

So only (B) works here, and is the correct answer.

Hope this clears things up!
