Complete Question Explanation
(The complete setup for this game can be found here: lsat/viewtopic.php?t=12828)

The correct answer choice is (B)

To attack this question, use proper List question technique: take one rule and apply it to all answer choices, then take another rule, and apply it to the remaining answer choices, and so on, until only one answer choice remains.

Answer choice (A): This answer choice violates the fourth rule and is therefore incorrect.

Answer choice (B): This is the correct answer choice.

Answer choice (C): This answer choice violates the second rule and is therefore incorrect.

Answer choice (D): This answer choice violates the third rule and is therefore incorrect.

Answer choice (E): This answer choice violates the first rule and is therefore incorrect.

I've narrowed down to B and D, and none of them have Hue in the Lifestyle section. I don't understand how to apply the third rule to this particular question. At first glance I didn't think the rule was applicable because it doesn't meet the criteria of having Hue in the Lifestyle section...

I also don't understand how answer D violates the third rule.

Thanks for your time

Hi Xavier!

The third rule tells us that the number of Hue’s photographs in the Lifestyle section must be the same as the number of Fuentes’ photographs in the Sports section. So basically #H in L = #F in S. So yes that means we can test that rule by looking for H in L. But we can also test it by looking for F in S. Answer choice (D) has 1 F in S, but 0 H in L. Therefore, the # of H in L (0) does not equal the # of F in S (1). Thus, answer choice (D) violates rule #3.

Hope this helps!

Best,
Kelsey
