Numerical Distribution Games

I thought this game was terribly difficult. Once I watched Dave Killoran go over it in the Advanced LSAT Logic Games Course video, it was easier to understand and I am comfortable with how he came to the correct answers. I still feel like I might struggle if a similar game is on the June LSAT. I especially HATED question #16. Are there other games similar to this one that I can practice on?

Hey Nicolle!

Good to hear from you You aren't alone in disliking that game. It was widely loathed when it first appeared. That said, there are two points of interest for you here. The first is that there is not another pure numerical distribution game like this one! It's unique. That tells you that your chances of seeing another game like it are extremely low.

The second point of interest is that you are looking at probably the hardest distribution game out there, so if you can master this one, you've reached the pinnacle, and all the other games with distributions should look a bit easier (at least as far as the distribution in each one). So, if you feel like what I said made sense in the explanation, it's all downhill from here (in a good way).

What a relief! I do understand the game...just dislike it!! As an aside and just out of curiousity.....I am assuming students didn't do very well on this game due to it's difficulty.....when a game results in a large number of students doing poorly, is that an indication to the testers that it was too difficult and they, therefore, choose not to use a similar game at a later date?

Hi Nicolle,

I don't think that's how they operate. Due to pre-testing of all items via the Experimental section, they know how students will generally perform. So, when this game showed up, I think they knew it would cause issues. My feeling has always been that while this game has a lot to teach us about how distributions work, at its heart its a bit too purely mathematical in nature to reappear.

So, unlikely to reappear, but mainly because of the odd nature of the game
