When is it a good time to skip a question?

Hi,

I am finally getting faster at LG. My issue that sometimes at the harder games I get stuck on a question for few minutes. An example is June 2003 soup game. The last question took me almost 5 minutes to answer, just as long as it took me to answer the first four and initial diagramming. Also, is it a good idea to skip a question on a game and come back at the end after completing other games? Currently I have been answering all the questions so I do not think about the game once I move on.

Hi loayhanthel! Good question.

If you can tell that a Logic Game question is going to take you several minutes, then skip it and do the rest of the questions for that game. The other questions will often help you make inferences or require you to draw new diagrams that will help you answer the question you skipped more quickly. If you think it's still going to take you something like 5 minutes to answer the question, then there's no shame in skipping it and moving onto the next game. If you have time at the end of the section, you can come back to the question (if you've diagrammed the game well, then a quick glance at your diagram, your rules, and your inferences should allow you to defamiliarize yourself with the game in just a few seconds). 5 minutes is just too long to spend on a single LG question; there are plenty of entire games that can be done in that amount of time.

Of course, when you are reviewing the test, make sure you go back to the skipped question and take the time to understand how you could have gotten the correct answer more quickly (there is always a faster way - there are no Logic Game questions that should take you 5 minutes if you've set up your game correctly and made the correct inferences).
