Partial List Questions

Hello,

For partial list questions (such as question 4 from Game #1- June 2003; LGB p.183), what would be the best way to approach them? The partial list questions tend to be less straightforward and the answers are less obvious compared to a regular list question (such as #1 from the same game set), and I was just wondering if I should attack them using the same method.

Is there a more effective way of answering partial list questions?

Hi, MP,

You are correct that partial list questions are significantly different from list questions. In fact we cannot approach them like Global-List questions, at least not completely. Treat questions such as these in the same manner as you do other Global questions, in this case a Could Be True question. Rule out answer choices that violate rules and inferences you have made. If you have a couple options left after ruling out incorrect answers, diagram out the remaining answers to find the one that works.

To sum up, you can often knock out a couple wrong answers by referring back to your rules on these partial list questions, but you cannot expect to methodically cross them off rule by rule the way you do on Global-List questions.
