For this question, I understand that I am supposed to find the flaw in the principal's response to Ms. Smith. How is answer C a flaw in his argument? I chose answer E because it seems that the introduction of the traffic jam is completely irrelevant to the discussion at hand and further confuses the argument that Ms. Smith is making.

Hi smile22,

In this problem, Ms. Smith is complaining about an intentional act by either the principal or someone the principal is responsible for - the mass punishment of all the students in the class. However, the analogy the Principal uses involves people being inconvenienced or punished because of an accident. The analogy falls flat because the Principal has the power to undo the mass punishment, but analogizes it to a situation that cannot be easily rectified.

Does that help?
