Can someone explain this further why can G not be in 1?

Hi KG!

Because there are only 3 green files, and each of those green files will have a red file immediately before it (each of the 3 red files is immediately followed by a green file, from the question stem), that means none of the green files could ever be in the first position. If you did put a green file in the first position, then there would end up being one red file somewhere down the line that didn't have a green file right after it (breaking the condition of the question stem).
