Complete Question Explanation
(The complete setup for this game can be found here: lsat/viewtopic.php?t=1007)

The correct answer choice is (E)

Answer choice (A): This answer choice violates the fifth rule and is therefore incorrect.

Answer choice (B): This answer choice violates the second rule and is therefore incorrect.

Answer choice (C): This answer choice violates the inference that P and W cannot both be selected, and thus this answer choice is incorrect. This answer also requires G or W in order to meet the conditions of the fifth rule. However, the selection of P also requires the selection of S, and thus there is also an insufficient number of open courses available to Alicia.

Answer choice (D): This answer choice violates the inference that P and W cannot both be selected, and thus this answer choice is incorrect.

Answer choice (E): This is the correct answer choice.

I ended up with E as the last one after eliminating the others, but I'm confused how Statistics and World History could both be selected? Is this because the answer doesn't tell us what time Statistics is (9am or 3pm)? Since no other rules are broken and it's not specific to the time, is that why (E) works? Thanks!

Hi atdale,

Yes, that's exactly right. The "Statistics" ambiguity is one of the challenges of this game that you have to keep an eye on. When they refer to Statistics in an answer choice without telling us what time it is, it could be the 9am Statistics OR the 3pm Statistics. In answer choice E, it could be that the Statistics is the 3pm one, in which case she can take World History and Russian. She wouldn't be able to take Psychology as her 4th course, because of the fourth rule in the game. But since there are other courses available that she could take as her 4th course, the answer works.

Good job figuring this one out!
