In Step 4, why does the book suggest that Ariadne should be isolated for thursday? Just because Ariadne cannot be on Friday does not suggest that she must be in thursday. Ariadne can be in any one of thursday, saturday, or sunday. So why focus on forcing that group into thursday?

Hi,

Thanks for your question, In step 1, the book provides that the goal is to establish the group playing on Thursday. Since we know that Adriadne will not be playing on Friday, the end of step 4 notes that the only way to bump Adriadne in front of Friday is to put the band on Thursday.

Step 5 continues the same thought process, noting that to force Adriadne into the Thursday spot, Saturday and Sunday must also be eliminated--as you correctly note as well.

I hope that's helpful! Please let me know whether this is clear--thanks!

Steve
