I am still having trouble not getting caught up in the technical terminology while reading science passages. Are there any tips I can keep in mind while reading a science section?

Hi LsatTaker,

One way to keep track of the scientific terminology is to abstract it out. Make it Thing A versus Thing B, which does Action X, so that you can keep track of the argumentation, which is the key part of the passage to understand. In fact, because they would otherwise be impenetrable to laypeople, science passages tend to use more straightforward argumentation, and almost every technical term will be defined in the passage.

That said, this particular passage (#2 in Preptest 81) isn't really a "hard science" passage but more of a "soft science"(psychology) and philosophy one, so the LSAT makers expect an understanding of logic and its terminology, and do not define it in this passage.

Let me know if this helps, or if you have any more specific questions!
