Having difficulty understand the answer for the three apartment buildings-the highlander, the Ivy and the jacaranda. page 4-40.
There is an inference in the setup as follows:
J:FFFCG

What I don't understand is why can't the inference also be:
J: CGFFF.

I understand that G can't be on floor 5 and C can't be on floor 1 but they could fill either 4, 3, 2, 1?

Please explain.

thanks,

Tania

Hello Tania,

Well, for J, C could be on floors 2, 3, 4, and 5, and G could be on floors 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Hope this helps,
David
