Hi Tajadas,

Answer choice A is supported by the passage's statement that "in order to [promote racial acceptance and integration], [African American literature] must reflect an understanding and mastery of Western European literary techniques and styles." What this means is that the purpose (in order to) of using these literary techniques and styles was social in nature (promoting acceptance and integration). This also means that it's fair to infer that the author thinks this purpose is more important that any aesthetic reason to use Western European techniques, since it's the only stated purpose. But we get reiteration of the importance of the social purpose later in the passage as well, when the author states that "the artistic work of Black people could be used to promote racial acceptance and integration only on the condition that it became Europeanized." This creates a necessary connection between the social purpose and the European techniques.

I hope this helps!
