I was between C and E on this one. I re-read the last paragraph and confidently chose E. I did not eliminate C but decided to move on since I was confident with my choice.

I think what happened was that I simply switched up the styles and got confused with diamonds vs. borders. I might be wrong.

Anyways, can you please explain why it's not E. :-?

Hi LSAT-Learner,

If you look closely at the last paragraph in this passage, it doesn't sound like the diamond patterns were transformed into solid lines. Rather, it sounds like diamond patterns were arranged in a way that anticipated the border design: "Parts of diamonds arranged vertically at each side may be seen to anticipate the border." This is why (E) is incorrect.

The author's view seems to suggest that the movement from the banded style to the border style was a matter of a gradual evolution, which is suggested by the fourth paragraph.
