Why is A wrong? I was debating between A and B. I understand that the author is against analytic reading for edited texts but I don' t understand what tells us they are skeptical about it rather than adamantly opposed.

Hi Jackie,

Let me turn it back to you---where do you find support that the author is "adamantly" against applying analysis to edited autobiographies? In this type of question, we are looking for an answer choice that can be proven by the information in the passage. I don't see anything there that shows the author is adamantly against the analysis.

The author is cautious about the close analysis of edited autobiographies. They aren't making a statement that they are certain it won't be productive. They are open to the idea of analyzing these texts, as they state in the last sentence of the passage. They allow that maybe some analysis could be useful if it takes the method of production of the autobiography into account.

Hope that helps!
