Hi PowerScore,

I want some help in understanding why out of D and E.
Even though E is the correct choice, D also looks totally right.

By giving an example of “patinas and aromas of a country kitchen” (line 32), the author is trying to tell us the general behaviour of PD James. How he generally writes.

Could you please let me know why still E is a better and correct answer?

Regards.

Hi Abhola,

(D) is wrong because the author doesn't say anything about how James constructs her plots. (E) captures how James is "capable of strikingly good writing" but her fondness for "descriptive digressions" can interfere with her plots.

Best,
Eveline
