Hi,

I have a quick question about the diagramming of drill #8 in the Linear Games Rule Diagramming Drills LGB2018 edition on page 75.

Drill: If A sits next to B, then B does not sit next to C.

My representation:

A/B/A ----> B/C/B (with a slash through it) both items with boxes around them.

Contrapositive

B/C/B ----> A/B/A (with a slash through it) both items with boxes around them.

Your diagramming in the answer key is quite different from my own and I am just wondering if you could further explain it.

Thanks for the question! There's a fairly lengthy explanation in the answer key, which goes into detail as to what's happening there. Were you able to read that? Regardless, in short, your representation isn't wrong, but it just shows the individual pieces of the rule; our diagram shows the full consequences of what's happening there, and as such is a bit more useful for most people. Either would work though!

Thanks for the response. I did read the book's explanation, I just wanted to ensure that since my representation didn't match yours it was still correct and I had interpreted the question correctly. Thanks!
